Skin-Care Guide “This is the best product I’ve found to smooth hands. Water beads when you wash your hands with [Derma Topix Intensive Hand Cream] on, so you can tell that it lasts.” -Dr. Heidi Waldorf
Winter Wonders: Stock Up
“Choose a hand cream with silicones and humectants that coats skin without leaving it slick, drippy, or sticky. Waldorf swears by Derma Topix Intensive Hand Cream: “I use it three times a day in the winter, and my hands don’t get dry, even though I’m washing them repeatedly.'”
“I like Glycolix™ Elite Treatment glycolic peel pads. They’re sold in dermatologists’ offices and give a very fine exfoliation.”
Summer Skin Solutions
Sun Damage: Lighten Up “I like Topix Citrix® Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF 30. It has zinc oxide and green tea; both are antiinflammatory, and neither causes breakouts.” – Macrene Alexiades-Armenakas, assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut.
17 Bad Skin Habits
Using stuff that’s wrong for your skin type is a hugely common mistake, says Miami dermatologist Leslie Baumann, author of The Skin Type Solution (Bantam). Here’s what you should know: For sensitive skin, look for anti-aging creams with added hydrators such as hyaluronic acid, like Replenix® Serum CF.
It’s no secret, says Wechsler: “Moisturized skin looks younger.” To prevent dryness in the legs and other areas, use a milky, fragrancefree cleanser… and limit time in the shower. Wechsler also prescribes Topix Glycolix Elite Treatment Pads which are formulated for the face and body.
For dry skin and fine lines around the eyes dermatologists recommend using a lightweight eye cream that will keep skin hydrated without causing puffiness. (Wechsler’s favorites: the antioxidant-rich Replenix® Eye Repair Cream, or good old Vaseline – “just the tiniest bit on the lower lids,” she says.)
Replenix® Power of Three Cream suppresses free radicals and inflammation with green tea polyphenols and “is great for mitigating the irritation that retinoids cause when you start using them,” says Bucay.
Green Tea has bragging rights to two top features: “It absorbs into the skin really well,” says Baumann and “of all the antioxidants, it is the most studied.” According to Baumann,
the Topix Replenix® line is the only one with a high enough concentration of green tea to benefit the skin.
Replenix® CF Serum In an eight-week study by the company, 43% of users reported a decrease in redness. “Its high concentration of green tea polyphenols has been shown to help calm redness and inflammation that often accompany acne related rosacea,” says Amy B. Lewis, a dermatologist based in New York City.
After washing, you have about three minutes to halt the evaporation of water from the skin… Smoothing on a hydrating serum, such as Topix Replenix® CF, beforehand can deliver an added boost of moisture.
